A similar texture to a shortbread, a slice of this chocolate hazelnut biscuit is perfect with a cup of tea and the chocolate buttons make it extra child-friendly
Another easy recipe I found on GoodtoKnow which is very child-friendly.
The finished biscuit tastes a lot like a shortbread, although it’s not as crumbly and has a lovely chocolate hazelnut flavour. The chocolate buttons with sprinkles (also called jazzies, jazzles, freckles and the large white buttons I used are apparently called snowies) are optional, but do make the biscuit look more exciting!

Just 4 ingredients make this delicious, melt-in-the-mouth lemon shortbread
The original recipe I used for this bake was for lemon and ginger shortbread. I’m not the greatest fan of ginger, so just left that ingredient out. I also don’t have the tin the original recipe recommends for this bake (more on that below), but my alternative tin certainly didn’t impact the flavour of the shortbread 🙂
Ingredients (makes 12 slices of shortbread)
- 150 g / 5.3 oz plain flour
- 100 g / 3.5 oz self-raising flour
- 180 g / 6.4 oz butter/margarine
- 75 g / 2.6 oz caster sugar
