Friday is usually the day for a new recipe. But, for my last post of the year, I thought I’d revisit the five recipe posts which proved most popular in 2016.
Counting down to the most popular…
5. Shredded Wheat chocolate nests – with golden syrup and mini eggs!
4. Heavenly chocolate cake with fudge icing
3. Melting moments: custard powder and icing sugar butter cookies
2. Giant doughnut cake with hundreds and thousands
And by far, far away the most popular…
1. Lemon sponge cake with lemon curd and buttercream filling.
Thanks for continuing to follow my baking endeavours and Happy New Year in advance to you all! Remember that you can find all my recipes to date in the Recipes Index.

Fab idea for a post. I haven’t baked anything for ages. Might need to check out my mug baking book 😉

It’s a bit of a lazy one, to be honest!
I’ve been eating a lot more sweet things than making the recently 🙂

Thank you! 🙂
I’ll have to come up with some ideas for January! Perhaps I’ll avoid chocolate because I’m sure lots of people have had enough of that this festive season 🙂

These all look so nice. 🙂 I remember when I was younger, my mum used to bake the chocolate nests. So yummy! 🙂

Thank you. The chocolate nests are always an Easter favourite. An easy and safe recipe to make with children too 🙂

I’m very disappointed the banana cake didn’t make it. 😉 But these are all amazing! I can’t wait to see what you whip up next year!

I know! I love banana cake 🙂 Might have to think of some other non-chocolate things while people are getting over the extra-chocolatey festive season!

Thank you 🙂 I’m glad I can help. My blog is actually really helpful for me now, as I don’t have to go through the cupboard and hunt out my favourite recipes from books!

Do you have an absolute favourite recipe? A go to one?

I think it would be a tie between the raspberry ripple cake and the lemon sponge. Both light, basic sponges with just a bit of flavour.
It’s weird, because I would have thought it’d be a chocolate one! That said, the After Eight brownies were rather nice 🙂
The recipe I’m posting this Friday is going to be a new favourite 😉

I will have a look on Friday then. My favs are brownies and fridge cakes. And you have plenty of varieties to choose from. Yum.
